An Ambiguous Tale

A man stands starring down at the end of a hallway. At the other end another man stares right back at him. For one man the hallway is calm and teaming with bright lights, for the other it is tenebrous and minatory. The man in the light speaks soft words of peace and harmony, while the man in darkness sputes feelings of abomination and abhorrence. The man in the light conveys tales of unity and homogeneity, while the man in the darkness replies with instances of discord and division. The man in the light grows uneasy and asks why the other feels this way, the man in the dark replies by asking him the same. The man in the light takes a step down the hallway, while the man in dark follows accordingly. The two men walk slowly towards each other, trying to persuade the other to his way of perceiving desperately.  By time they finish preaching they are only feet apart, to which the pair realize the other will not be retreating. "December 23rd" 9:00 A.M. Outside of a medium-sized suburban home on the outskirts of Chicago, snow beings to gently fall from the grey overcast skies. The frozen precipitation covers the bare tree branches and the brown, frozen grass of all the neighborhood lawns in a seasonal blanket of white.  The rapid dropping of the temperature outside coats the window glass in a thin layer of frost as the heat from the furnace and roaring fireplace protect the family dwelling inside from the wintry conditions. The smell of cookies baking in the oven fills up his small family home with an aroma that is undeniably linked to that of the holiday season. His three sisters move with a feverish pace throughout the house, sprinting from one room to the next. "EXIT 119" "Hey honey I just wanted to try you again and give you an update, I guess I'll just try again a little later,"  Cole Roth  says.  Inside of a highway oasis restauran t Roth ,  a youn g  traveling salesman ,  sits at the counter of a small family diner talking on his cell phone. A bad cluster of thunderstorms has rolled through the area forcing the man off the road and into the rest  stop  just off highway exit 119.  An elderly waitress comes over to re-fill Roth's empty coffee cup.
