"The Brave Man"

"The Brave Man" By: Brendan Cadman In the trappings and garments of, a man full of courage he stood, amongst others tall and bright. Like a lighthouse guiding the boats, lost in the mist towards the safety, of the docks in the port.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never fear, what may or may not lurk in the shadows.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never fear the,  monsters hiding in the back of dark closets.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never lose any sleep, over the myths and tales told around,  the roaring flames of a campfire.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to journey through, homes haunted by spirits of long ago.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to extend himself with,  an open heart to friend and foe alike.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never fear losing, himself on the uncharted road into the unknown. he was a brave man. Brave enough to ...

"The Passenger"

Image
The Passenger: Friday, December 20th, 11:30 P.M. In-between boundless miles of woodland on either side, a dark country highway sits quietly undisturbed in the middle of the night. A fresh layer of late December snow begins to majestically blanket the pothole riddled pavement, with a dim glow from lampposts high above illuminating the darkness. Like a beacon in the night, the silhouette of a large city rises in the distance through a thick layer of light pollution from a vast skyline. Lying at the end of the hazardous stretch of road is a bustling city filled with residents going about their seasonal activities, enjoying the holiday season.  Suddenly, the headlights from a  red 1969 mustang brighten the dark country highway, as the vehicle valiantly tries to navigate the missing road resting somewhere beneath the rapidly thickening layer of snow. Slipping and sliding through the night, the long journey into the city from the outskirts is poised to take much ...

"A Haunted House In The Daylight"

"A Haunted House In The Daylight" By: Brendan Cadman A beam of royal gold breaks through, the misty and hazy gates of grey.  Clearing to majestic blue skies, a house basks in the warming ray.  Perched high above the quiet town, atop a rolling hill of emerald green. The looming structure casts a welcoming presence,  of dedicated craftsmanship so impeccably pristine. Through lusting eyes the natives gaze,  and marvel in the homes' aesthetic glow.  Still for years a vacant slumber took,  place of the final dwelling long ago.  Myth and tale engulf the town with,  power equal to a fire captive in the wind.  None would dare to dance with fate,  or brave what presence might lurk within. Floorboards creak under a phantom's footstep pace, as silence fills the void of a dark and empty hall.  Cobwebs line the ceiling attractively impure,  as shadows roam the chambers quietly as pictures on the wall. ...

"And Then It's Not"

And then It's Not by BRENDAN CADMAN From the nothingness of darkness,  to the blinding white hot light of meaning.  The beginning of something fresh and new, like flowers in a garden teeming.  Bathed in the falling and soaking rain,  in the rays of sun is where strength is gained.  Hoping for the day of being plucked for a purpose,  to be admired in vulnerable display. Safely resting amongst nurturing soil and dirt, the flowers' pedals' bloom and exert.  Until the day where an unfamiliar spirit pulls,  resistant first before the flower learns to let go. Beautiful with its varied and vibrant colors,  a sight to behold the world marvels and wonders. Day's of neglect and spills put its value in doubt, but steadfast and robust the flower's resolve was devout.  On the table sand in the hour glass drips acquiescent,  while the flowers' colors dim and aroma evanesces. Pedals detach and float to rest on the floor, ...

"The Last Voyagers: Part 2"

Chapter 4: Mars DATE: June 17, 2083. U.S.S. Halo Status: It has been eight brutal months since the crew of the Halo watched helplessly from the safety of their shuttle, as earth was unbiasedly savaged by an asteroid field. During the passing months an unstable and inconsolable divide has torn the crew apart. Led by Commander Durham, Zack and Alexis believe their next course of action should be an attempt to re-enter earth's atmosphere and search for possible survivors. While Rebecca, William, and Kayla, consider the possibility of venturing out into the cosmos in search of a new home. "Do you know how insane that sounds?" Zack skeptically says. "You are talking about traveling god knows how far, and then what? Starting society from scratch?"  "I'm not sure if you were watching what happened eight months ago, but over there," Rebecca points out of the Halo's window towards a decaying earth. "There is nothing left. Not...
