"Across The Fault Line"

"Across The Fault Line" By: Brendan Cadman  Across the jagged and broken fault line, on either side of a land torn in two. Factions of natives congregate to discuss, their narrow and like-minded points of view.  Across the rough and uneven fault line, two tribes lived in lands of circumstance askew. For the left basked in the golden blaze of the sun, with the right illuminated by the pale rays of the moon. Across the ragged and tattered fault line, the same perpetual song was sung, in a slightly different tune. One tribe woke in rolling darkness, the other in beautiful and glistening sunlight, not knowing what it took to walk in the others shoe. Across the shattered and split fault line, the flowers of resentment began to blossom,  fearing the lifestyle each side had chose. Rivers contaminated by poisonous venom,  by the w ords of hate spread like a virus, it was fear and ignorance that allowed hate to grow. Across the smashed and cracked f...

"The Honesty of Truth"

"The Honesty of Truth"  By: Brendan Cadman The truth is candid. It does not protect your vanity, with colorful disguises or gentle words. It is a monster whose kingdom reigns, between the heartless and the compassionate, where what you want bows to what you need.   The truth is liberating. Without it our ships navigate over choppy waters,  lost in the dying light of a sinking sun, within the witching hour between twilight and nightfall. Through the hazy fog and spraying mist of uncertainty, it is the only light that can guide you to the dock. The truth is courageous.  It is a choice to turn your back on the pain, and falling feeling of agony and intimidation.  To stand with your feet planted firmly beneath you, in the midst of danger and pain. It never compromises in difficult times, even in the unrelenting face of armageddon.   The truth is just.  It does not disparage against the have-nots, nor succumb to the bidding o...

"I Just Needed You To Know"

Image
"I Just Needed You To Know" By: Brendan Cadman On a cool and misty Saturday afternoon, Ethan and Jacob sit on a large black leather sofa inside of their two bed room apartment in Lincoln Park. Drinking and watching football as the grey clouds outside softly spray water against the window, the two friends spend hours passing beers and engaging in various different topics of discussion. Ethan reclines the sofa, lounging in his grey sweats and green hoodie, as Jacob repositions himself to the lazy-boy recliner on the other side of the room.  "You want another?" Ethan offers to Jacob as he reaches into a small cooler placed on the living room table in front of the sofa covered with empty beer cans and a half full pizza box.  "Nah I'm okay man," Jacob declines.  "What are you all dressed up for anyway?" Ethan comments on the dress shirt and slacks that Jacob is sporting. "I'm actually meeting Sofia's parent...

"In A City Of One Million"

"In A City Of One Million" By: Brendan Cadman Skyscrapers rise from the sprawling canvas, of a bustling city as the buildings pierce the clouds, and knock on heaven's gate.  Constellations blurred out of sight,  from the glaring headlights and,  luminosity of blazing marquees, guiding star-crossed lovers on,  an imminently unspoken  collision course of worlds. Eyes of blue scan the crowded room in innocent curiosity,  all the while being undeniably pulled into, the magnetic trance of a pair of emerald green. There stood a boy quiet and content, to hold up the boulder life placed on his shoulders. Looking but not searching nor seeking, for anything more than what he is.  Afraid to place his life and worth, into the hands of a stranger, avoiding the cloaked daggers tip aimed for his heart. There stood a girl looking to be loved, for more than what was forthwith and self-evident. Untethered by the past and unburden by the flaws, the...

"Detonation"

"Detonation"  By: Brendan Cadman 10. Tick, tick, tick. The relentless ticking of our, impending mortality making us sick. A devastating tug of war between, wanting more and knowing this is it. 9. Tick, tick, tick. Seeking a way out of an unescapable abyss,  distractions worn like armor until the battle is done, A battle that can not be won with weapons or fists. try as they might but n o one here is fooling anyone. 8. Tick, tick, tick. Buried deep in the heart of the city, underneath the concrete blanket of streets, lies a bomb wired and ready to explode. Everywhere you turn people floating, like ghosts trapped in a graveyard, trying to deal with things that they can't control. 7. Tick, tick, tick. Disillusioned by the ambiguity of what lies within, knowing that at any minute his whole world could implode . He walked through the city amongst anomalous faces, seeking words of comfort from strangers on the road.  6. Tick, tick, tick. O...

"The Brave Man"

"The Brave Man" By: Brendan Cadman In the trappings and garments of, a man full of courage he stood, amongst others tall and bright. Like a lighthouse guiding the boats, lost in the mist towards the safety, of the docks in the port.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never fear, what may or may not lurk in the shadows.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never fear the,  monsters hiding in the back of dark closets.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never lose any sleep, over the myths and tales told around,  the roaring flames of a campfire.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to journey through, homes haunted by spirits of long ago.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to extend himself with,  an open heart to friend and foe alike.  he was a brave man.  Brave enough to never fear losing, himself on the uncharted road into the unknown. he was a brave man. Brave enough to ...
